The much hyped .NET framework has changed the way the internet operated in a way that information is not stored on concentrated powerful servers but scattered all over the place. This places the user at the helm and information is more distributed to where it is needed most. It also allows for smaller data centers in the true spirit of the .NET framework enterprises have had to re-think their business applications worked. They now have faster and smaller data centers distributed around the world with only the information that is needed kept and stored within it. No all week back-up processing in order to save all the processed data into one huge repository. The data is processed online, and the ones that have to be stored are kept with the other data needed by the head offices getting only the processed data they need.

Google has announced the launch of it’s custom search engine to the rest of the world which makes the search engine more effective and powerful tool. It allows users to access the advanced search function (which was only available in the US for quite sometime now). The new search system uses semantics to give results that are better a match to the terms searched based on the use and not merely based on the similarity of the words used. Traditional search engines used phrase matching technology where it uses it�s immense databases which already have indexed information stored for the exact words in order giving results based on the exact word matches and then gives results that have any of the individual words making a search a long and arduous process.

The can enter bearing the signature of one version and spread to other systems with different signatures at each instance. The only way to be protected is to have and install protection from the bottom up, where intrusion prevention is installed right after the OS making the inventory it takes as pristine as possible. That way any modifications to the system are seen and noted allowing you the best chances for avoiding intrusion. Everything you do on the internet can be a trigger for malware to get into a system. Entering a site, downloading pirated music or software, using P2P to get your latest tracks, download codec’s that are not installed automatically, etc. and the list is endless. Everything you can do can be a trigger which is kind of paranoid (keep of the net and you don’t get attacked) but the safest approach would be to stay off the net which would be impossible. The only possible, total solution to all these problems would be to re-do the net. It has been proposed and seen by many as crazy, taking the internet down just for a few minutes causes mass paranoia and tempers to flair. Blame the guys who designed and first used it to send files in the old days. Blame just everybody else including you for contributing to the internet.

The world still has to see the true semantic web that is part science fiction and reality. Why, well imagine software that understands what you need and searches for the information you need in the context that it is used not just the word-matching technologies of today. It would be a part realization of Artificial Intelligence that has software powerful enough to think like you and me. We all know the frustrating process of searching on the web which yield’s some relevant results yet a ton of garbage that simply have matching words you have to filter out. There are options regarding a more focused search yet they are costly and time consuming. Google and IBM have been having some success in the area but that remains to be seen in a fully working semantic web.

The experts have spoken and they have delivered a verdict, the internet will be maxed out by 2010 and that’s final. During that time, the internet would be too congested to deliver the best possible internet experience and it doesn’t end there. Industry experts are talking about having to totally re-do the net (including the cabling and support structures) along with all the software that is designed to work with it to allow it to deliver the best possible speeds that technology has to offer. Current technology installed are antiquated some even as old as the net itself and most are in need of total refurbishing. Though most of the hardware is hot-swappable, newer technology is more powerful and consumes less electricity. The only problem is the will power and budget for the proposed changes would cost billions of dollars and commitments from all the countries and governments on the globe.

The death of “The King of POP” though very much a surprise to the whole world, it again tests the internet to the limit causing Google to crash and prevent the biggest search site from returning results regarding Michael Jackson for about an hour. This is the main problem with the internet, the total unpredictability of the whole system which is made of several thousand or so individual components that have to work together to give you in a mere milliseconds the search results you expect. Google is known to be the largest or one of the firms with the most extensive data centers the world over that has remained secret as to location and many other details.
These data centers are high tech server banks that contain thousands upon thousands of enterprise grade servers with multiple processors and terabytes of ram, serving the internet and allowing the millions if not billions of people who conduct searches each and every minute of the day. Now with all that computing power, you still get hitches and yes it is part of technology as it breaks down and can get overwhelmed by the unpredictable human nature. The human factor is still the biggest question in any technology for we design, use it and break the darned things better than any engineer can engineer it. There is no bullet-proof or human-proof technology on earth that can take on human nature and that is what scares people about Cloud Computing and other technological advances.
The most damaging problems we have experienced over these past few years over the internet all have to do with human beings and their actions. They have cost billions of dollars in economic damages yet we still cannot do away with the weak link of the computing industry, HUMANS!
